Avoid Wasting Food

We’ve all done this. Overbuy at the grocery store or farmers market and then, unfortunately, end up with spoiled food. No more my friends! Here are three tricks keep leftovers and those gorgeous fruits and vegetables out of the trash.

If you know you won’’t be able to eat all of your produce right now, freeze it. Carrots, celery, onions, bell peppers sliced. Freeze them flat and then into freezer bags they go. When you have leftover stock, freeze it in ice cube trays. I do the same for pesto. Just pop out “what” you need “when” you need it. Tomato paste is a kitchen staple, but far too often I’ve opened a can, used a bit and let the rest spoil in my fridge. Instead, try this… Put tablespoon dollaps on wax paper, freeze and put into a bag to use as needed. That’s what I call a “no waste paste.” So say “goodbye” to wasting food and “hello” to money saving alternatives.
