Trending in Hollywood: Natural Childbirth

In Hollywood, moms are the talk of the town. Tirralan, our Tinseltown Mom gives the latest scoop on the glitz, glamour, diapers and time-outs. She dishes on the ins and outs of Celebrity Motherhood and the latest trend: Natural Childbirth!

Natural Childbirth is a method of giving birth to a baby in which the mother chooses not to use drugs to reduce pain or to make the birthing process happen more quickly. And, although it’s not the most common type of labor and delivery, it’s the rising trend in Hollywood.

Jessica Alba did it; Gisele Bündchen did it; Thandie Newton announced that she did it for the third time, and now, Mila Kunis just revealed on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that she plans to go the natural route when it comes to her birthing method. 

The 30-year-old actress and fiancé, Ashton Kutcher, 36, are expecting their first child together this year, and Kunis kept the Internet abuzz with her recent revelation about her birthing plans, saying, “I’m gonna do it as all natural as I possibly can unless there’s an emergency or something that should wrong.”

Fellow, famous mommy, Ricki Lake gave birth to her second child naturally, at home, with a doula and midwife present, and produced a documentary about it, The Business of Being Born. In the film, she gives birth to her son, and she once told People Magazine, “I want those women to be informed and to know what they’re getting into… They need to know the pros and cons of it all… I’m advocating for choices.”

Although natural birth represents a small percentage of deliveries compared to medicated births, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention it has been on the rise since 2004, and it appears that upswing is continuing.
