Tips To Always Keep Your Kids Hydrated

Keep Kids Hydrated

Hydration is so important. As a parent, you need to make sure both you and your kids stay hydrated. But it isn’t always easy to get them to drink water. It’s important to understand how dehydration affects the body. Your body needs water to function properly – it’s crucial for health and well-being. Most of us do not consume enough fluids each day. Thirst is the first sign, but it’s important not to let your kids get to that point of dehydration. These simple and easy tips will help keep your family hydrated.

Make Water Tasty

One of the most common reasons why children don’t want to drink water is because they simply don’t like it. Make sure you have a good water filter to get rid of any off-putting odors or tastes. Get your kids to drink water by putting fruit in it. Add a squeeze of lemon or orange to provide flavor. Try enticing your child with seltzer or ‘bubble water’.

Offer Water Before, During and After Physical Activity

Encourage your kids to drink water both before, and after physical activity. Drinking water about 30 minutes before an activity not only regulates body temperature, but it lubricates joints. Additionally, dehydration can lead to a decrease in physical activity performance. Kids should drink water every 20 minutes during an activity, depending on their weight and the intensity of exercise.

Offer Water with Meals and Snacks

Make drinking water a regular thing in your household, and your kids won’t be so resistant to drinking it. Provide water with every meal and snack – instead of juice and other beverages. If you start drinking more water and choose water over other options, they will too. Incorporating water into your regular meals will make your kids feel more energized, alert and will keep them healthy.
