Spice Savings

Make your own spice blends as a budget-friendly alternative for store bought seasoning packets. Buying a packet of seasoning is about 50 cents and that’s not a huge expense, but why pay it all? Why not make your own seasoning mix?

Our Money Saving Queen is back in the kitchen today whipping up some frugal alternatives for store bought staples. She’ll show you how to “spice up” your tacos while saving money. It’s so simple – you just measure and dump. Chili’, garlic and onion powder’. Some crushed red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, cumin, sea salt and black pepper. Store it in a glass jar and it only cost pennies to make. Now another popular seasoning mix is Herbs de Provence.. Ooh la la! That’s just a fancy name for a seasoning inspired from France. I’m not paying the $20 price tag though. Make your own with dried thyme, basil, fennel and lavender.
