Pregnancy Weight – Lose Those Extra Pounds

If you are a new mom struggling to lose those extra pounds left over from pregnancy: you may benefit from getting some more sleep. Getting a good night’s sleep may, in fact, be just as important as diet and exercise for shedding post-pregnancy pounds.

Moms sleeping five hours a day or less were three times more likely than their more rested counterparts to retain at least 11 pounds after a year. Lifestyle factors that lead to post-pregnancy weight retention — including diet, physical activity and sleep patterns — have not been well studied, but as every new mom and dad knows, your z’s are a precious commodity when small children are afoot.

Research on the connection between postpartum weight and sleeping habits continues. Until then, striving for at least 6 to 7 hours of slumber each day may be just what you need to help you in your weight loss efforts….as well as give you more energy to enjoy that baby!
